As another Monday rolls around, we all wish it was still the weekend, don't we?

We'd all love an extra day off to relax, recharge, and enjoy some time for ourselves. But the reality is, the weekend is fleeting, and before we know it, it's Monday again!

However, there is a way to make the most of those precious two days off and set the tone for the rest of the week. That's where the Sunday reset routine comes in. Not only does it make Monday morning a little less daunting, but it also helps me feel more productive, focused, and energized throughout the week.

By taking care of some key tasks on Sunday, I feel like I have a head start on the week, and I'm ready to tackle whatever comes my way.

So, if you're tired of feeling like Monday is always lurking around the corner, join me in discovering the benefits of a Sunday reset routine. Trust me, your future self will thank you.

As someone who likes to simplify things, I like to divide my Sunday reset routine into two main parts: reflecting on the previous week and preparing for the coming week. By breaking it down this way, it's easier to focus on each aspect separately and ensure that nothing gets overlooked.

Part One - Reflections

During the reflection phase, take some time to look back on the previous week. Did you accomplish all the tasks you set out to do? Were there any areas where you fell short? What went well and what could be improved?

This is an opportunity to give yourself a pat on the back for what you accomplished and also identify any areas that need improvement.

Part Two - Preparations

Once you've reflected on the past week, it's time to start preparing for the coming week. This is where you can visualize your goals and set the foundation for your tasks. Write down the tasks you need to complete and organize them based on priority.

You can also gamify your tasks to make them more fun and engaging - almost like a mini challenge to keep yourself going throughout the week. Plus, by holding yourself accountable for your tasks, you'll feel more motivated and energized to tackle them head-on.

A helpful way to structure your Sunday routine is to break it down into three parts -

  • Morning - Focus on getting your chores done.

  • Afternoon - Take the time to plan out your week ahead.

  • Evening - Allow yourself to relax and unwind.

So, now let's take a closer look at what preparing for the coming week actually entails -

One - Self-care & Pampering

It's important to give yourself a break and allow some time for relaxation and rejuvenation. This may mean sleeping in a bit and taking the day slow - without the pressure of having to rush through tasks.

For me, self-care involves a long and luxurious skincare routine, a relaxing bath, and pampering myself. It's a time to unwind and forget about any stresses or worries from the previous week. When you take the time to recharge and pamper yourself, you'll feel more refreshed and energized to take on the week ahead.

Two - Chores & Tasks

I find that getting my chores done is a crucial step in setting myself up for a productive week ahead. Cleaning my living space, doing laundry, and changing my sheets for fresh, crisp ones can have a big impact on my overall mood and productivity.

When my living space is clean and organized, it feels like my mind is clearer and more focused. I can move around my home more easily, find things I need without getting frustrated, and feel more relaxed in general. It also helps me avoid any unnecessary distractions during the week, such as piles of clutter that might tempt me to procrastinate or lose focus.

Three - Meal Prep & Groceries

Meal prepping is also an essential part of my Sunday routine. You can practice this by either making dishes ahead of time or planning out meals for the week and getting groceries in advance.

This way I don't have to scramble to figure out what to make for every meal and it also helps in avoiding last-minute Uber Eats orders!

Four - Set Intentions & Plan

One way I like to do this is by using a planner or digital calendar to map out my week. This helps me stay organized and on top of important deadlines, appointments, and meetings.

It's also essential to set goals and prioritize them by identifying the most critical tasks that need to be accomplished during the week and making a plan to tackle them. Doing so helps me stay focused and motivated throughout the week, and it also provides a sense of accomplishment as I check off each completed task.

Five - Schedule Alone Time

As important as it is to schedule and prioritize tasks, it's equally crucial to make time for yourself. Realigning and reconnecting with yourself after a hectic week can be incredibly beneficial and can help you avoid burnout.

It's important to set aside alone time, even if it's just a few minutes a day, to do things that you enjoy or simply be with yourself. This can include journaling your thoughts, listening to your favorite playlist, meditating, practicing a hobby, or doing absolutely nothing. Focusing on yourself is considered productivity as well because it can help you recharge and reset your mind for the upcoming week.

Six - Sleep & Rest

Getting enough sleep and rest is crucial for our overall health and well-being, and it's essential to prioritize it during our weekly reset. Even if the rest of the week was a little out of whack, this is your opportunity to set the tone for the rest of the week. Make sure to get to bed on time and avoid using gadgets right before bedtime, as the blue light can interfere with the body's natural production of melatonin and disrupt your sleep cycle.

Proper REM sleep is essential for your brain to process and consolidate memories, improve concentration, and boost mood and creativity. By getting enough rest during the weekly reset, you can wake up feeling refreshed, energized, and ready to take on the week ahead.
