Twice? Better.
Double cleansing has entered the world of skincare through the Korean care routine practices,
It is as simple as it sounds - cleansing twice but it is best when done when you choose the products based on your skin type.
Why is it so important you ask?
It is important to cleanse your skin well at the end of the day to allow it to heal overnight and return to its original balance. It helps remove any sort of leftover makeup and dirt - leaving your skin feeling soft, smooth, and clean.
It also helps in cleansing the pores and allows the rest of the products in your routines like facial serum or moisturizers to penetrate through your skin layers and get absorbed better.
Step One - Oil
Washing your face with an Oil Based Cleanser.
This step helps in removing your makeup and SPF. It helps in reducing sebum production on your skin and helps in hydrating your skin.
Step Two - Water
Following it up with a water-based cleanser.
The best way to do this is to massage your face with gentle upward and outward motions with the tips of your fingers to try and have a deeper cleanse.
Keep In Mind
This should only be included in your nighttime routine.
Each step should last at least 60 seconds.
Double Cleansing For Your Skin Type
For Oily Skin
It might sound weird to use an oil-based cleanser when you already have greasy skin, but the reality is that oil attracts oil and this step will help remove any impurities present.
If you still want to avoid oil-based products - you can go for micellar water.
Follow up with a gel or clay cleanser for the second round to regulate oil production and inflammation.
For Dry Skin
Here comes the risk of overwashing and stripping your skin. This is why it is important to use a rich and thick oil-based cleanser to help hydrate in the first step.
Dry skin also tends to face issues of premature aging which is why it is good to follow up with products that specifically target your skin concerns.
For Normal or Combination Skin
This type of skin is a little tricky to deal with it. It is better to choose products that help in improving the texture of your skin. Using nutrient-rich cleansers works best.
For the second cleanse, it is recommended to use cleansers that help balance the pH of your skin and work on maintaining the balance of your skin.
