Hailey Bieber is an icon when it comes to creating trends that are worth the hype.
Her flawless 'glazed donut' nails are certainly no exception to this.
This nail style features a shimmery iridescent effect, similar to the sheen of a glazed donut, and has been spotted on the hands of celebrities and beauty influencers after Hailey brought it under the limelight by sporting them on the red carpet.
Zola Ganzorigt who created these iconic nails for Hailey's Met Gala appearance took to TikTok to give a glimpse into how to create these 'donut nails'.
She believes that the reason why this trend went viral and looked so unique was that, unlike other chrome nails, this version looked more natural because of the undertones used.
Whether you're a seasoned nail art pro or a beginner, this guide will walk you through the materials, prep, application, and finishing touches needed to achieve stunning, professional-looking nails that are sure to turn heads.
Begin, Nail Prep
Remove your existing nail polish or any remnants using an acetone-based remover.
Clip your nails to create the desired shape
Soak your fingers in warm water to soften your cuticle to easily push them back using the appropriate tools - a Cuticle pusher and Cuticle nipper (You can also use a product like the Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover)
File your nails and buff them out using a nail file
Lastly, clean your nails with one last swipe of acetone using a cotton pad to remove any oils or dirt that might interfere and prevent the polish from binding to your nail
Nail Buffer Block - Soft and Shine
Nail File Set - Teenitor
Nail Polish Remover - O.P.I
Step One - Base Coat
Apply a layer of the O.PI. base coat onto your nails and cure it under an LED nail lamp for 30 seconds.
Step Two - Shade Pick
Apply a single coat of nude nail polish in the shade Pale To The Chief from O.P.I and cure it for another 60 seconds.
Make sure the coat is thin and not clumpy or smudged.
If you wish to go one step further to match the original, you can mix your chosen shade with a touch of clear coat to thin it out further and make it look more translucent to match the color of your natural nail.
You can also choose to go for a pale pink or white shade instead of white.
White - O.P.I Funny Bunny
Pink - O.P.I Put it in Neutral
Nude - O.P.I Tiramisu for Two

Step Three - Top Coat
Follow it up with a layer of clear O.P.I top coat and let it cure for 60 seconds.
Make sure all your layers are looking good and wipe down with an acetone pad before going ahead with the next step.
Step Four - Chrome Powder
Using a small felt brush applicator, gently rub the chrome powder onto the base coat.
Take a fluff brush and dust off the excess before going in with another layer of top coat to seal it.
Cure this for another 60 seconds under the nail lamp.
O.P.I Tin Man Can is the original chrome powder used to create this look but it is only available in professional nail salons and is not sold commercially - here are close alternatives for the powder
The Born Pretty chrome powder is the closest dupe and is available in multiple other shades as well.

Use cuticle oil after your manicure to moisturize your nail beds and maintain your nails to ensure that your art stays on for longer.
