Rhode. Another celebrity beauty brand in an already crowded space? I was skeptical.
But I’ll also admit that I was quickly proven wrong. The creative direction is always on point, the prices are reasonable, and the products? Actually great. Hailey Bieber’s brand has fully won me over, and now I find myself waiting (im)patiently for every new launch, ready to add it to my stash.
Clearly, I’m not the only one. In just over two years, Rhode has solidified itself as the It-Girl brand of the 2020s. While it started with skincare essentials, it was the Peptide Lip Treatments and Lip Tints that really took off—selling out instantly, waitlists in the thousands. So it only makes sense that Bieber’s next move would be expanding the lip category even further.
If you’ve been following Hailey’s makeup tutorials (same), you’ve already seen the Peptide Lip Shape sneakily make an appearance for months now. This isn’t just a traditional lip liner—it’s designed to be a creamy contour for the lips, with a rounded tip on one side and a silicone smudger on the other to blend and blur to your heart’s content.
Rhode’s signature peptides are, of course, in the formula, keeping it smooth, hydrating, and ultra-comfortable. It also includes fenugreek extract to improve the look of lip volume and firmness. Plus, it’s vegan, cruelty-free, and dermatologist-tested—everything we love.
Now, let’s talk shades. There are 11 neutral tones to choose from:
Lift (soft neutral pink)
Press (warm pinky mauve)
Bend (soft peachy beige)
Lunge (rosy beige)
Twist (warm taupe)
Balance (caramel brown)
Lean (warm medium brown)
Stretch (neutral mocha brown)
Flex (rich neutral brown)
Spin (rich plum brown)
Move (deep cool brown)
The brand recommends going for a shade close to your natural lip color for an effortless look or picking a darker shade for a more sculpted, contoured effect. You can wear it alone, with any lip product, or the Rhode-approved way: liner first, Pocket Blush tapped on the center, and topped with a Peptide Lip Tint.
Does It live up to the hype?
From the moment I swiped this on, I knew it was going to be a staple. The formula is that perfect balance between creamy and structured—it glides on effortlessly but doesn’t slide around. It’s not your sharp, ultra-defined lip pencil, but that’s the whole point. The soft-focus, blurred lip look is very in, and this makes it incredibly easy to achieve.
Plus, the shade range is surprisingly well thought-out. Usually, “nude” lip liners pull way too orange on me, but Rhode nailed the undertones here. Lunge, a rosy beige, is chef’s kiss for my everyday lip. It enhances my natural lip color without looking too obvious—like my lips, but way better.
The built-in silicone smudger? Genius. I’ve used my fingers to blur lip liner for years, but this makes it even easier and more precise. And because the formula is hydrating (thank you, peptides), my lips never feel dry or flaky—even after hours of wear.
If you love a crisp, ultra-precise liner, this may not be your go-to. But if you’re into a softer, more natural-looking lip, Peptide Lip Shape is a game-changer. And let’s be real—I’m already wondering what Rhode is dropping next.
Love,
Rae
